Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is transmitted to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Denton County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Access stays within the team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the server may receive routine technical and usage details:

- Pages viewed and approximate time spent
- Referring website, when one is supplied

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Denton County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Denton County Sheriff's Office records, local court files, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. The county records hub remains an outside government source. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person.

Outside companies operate the displayed search tools. A provider's own privacy policy governs information submitted to its form. It also decides how long data is retained and when it may be shared. Review those terms before sending a query because this policy does not control the provider.

Links may lead to DCSO, Denton County courts, Texas agencies, legal resources, or outside tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's policy applies. Check it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may track activity across websites for interest-based ads. Their systems perform that tracking under their own rules.

For context, the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs access to records held by Texas governmental bodies, while Government Code Sections 411.083 through 411.087 limit dissemination of criminal history record information. Those government-record laws do not convert this private site into a Texas agency. Subject to the law that applies, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data held about the visitor
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Seek deletion where the governing law permits it
- Object to eligible forms of processing
